I have just discovered a very cool feature in Google Maps - it's called "Terrain" and you can view the terrain for an area by, in the top right corner of the map, hover over "More" and you should see a drop down menu, where you check "Terrain". It's so cool. Below is a screen shot of DC's terrain.
